Northern Uganda
Agroforestry Project in Nwoya
SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
Our project in Nwoya
In northern Uganda, right next to Murchison Falls National Park, PERFUTURO is developing a modern agroforestry project across 13,000,000 m². Here, in a diverse system, Robusta coffee grows alongside fruit trees and other tree species. Monocultures are avoided and the use of machinery is deliberately reduced.
This diversity makes the land more resilient and benefits the coffee as well. Trees help retain water in the soil, their leaves provide natural nutrients, and the interaction between different species supports a healthy ecosystem. In this way, Nwoya combines productive agriculture with long-term yield potential.

And the potential goes further. In the future, agroforestry and reforestation can complement each other in Nwoya: while coffee keeps the land productive and generates ongoing returns, reforestation creates additional opportunities to restore landscapes and sequester carbon over the long term.

Nwoya is becoming PERFUTURO’s headquarters in Uganda
Nwoya has much more ahead. The new campus will create a hub for research, training and exchange, connecting practical work on the ground with new knowledge and ideas. Step by step, Nwoya is becoming the base for PERFUTURO’s continued work in Uganda.
